At heart, Catena is a story about family. Family who poured their lives, passion and spirit into transforming scrub-laden desert into some of the most beautiful and unique vineyards in the world. This wine shows a dark violet color with purple reflection. The nose offers ripe, concentrated dark and red fruit aromas with delicate floral notes of violets and roses along with traces of chalk-stone and mocha. The mouthfeel is rich and full, with notes of sweet spices and a touch of leather. The finish presents soft and very well integrated tannins with bright, crisp acidity giving the wine exceptional length.

One of four different Malbecs in the appellation series, this comes from alluvial soils to the north of the village of Vista Flores. Aged in 35% new oak, it’s smooth and well balanced, with fine tannins, lots of blackberry fruit and well integrated vanilla spice. A crowd pleaser.See detailed press review

The humidity of Vista Flores (where there is much more rainfall) makes for another level of compression and density in malbec. A cery floral red, from violets and roses, mixed in with deep, dark fruit. The tannins are sous vide and subterranean, throaty, tobacco-laced and rigid. The purpose here is to elevate Catena's cabernet sauvignon and malbec essentials into more curious consumer territory. Value here is strong and purposed so there is nothing to fear. Single vineyards are not always commercially sustainable but single terroirs are so much more likely so. This is the epitome of that concept for malbec in Mendoza.See detailed press review
