  • About this winery

Established by the Shaunessy and Oldfield families on the South Okanagan’s legendary Golden Mile Bench in 1993, Tinhorn Creek is a very special winegrowing project, comprising 150 acres of spectacular vineyards in two distinct areas, one on either side of the valley. August 2017

Gutsy, rich, creamy. What used to be known as Oldfield Series, is now Oldfield Reserve. This Chardy was fermented in French oak using natural yeasts then matured in oak barrels for an additional 18 months. Off the charts; a patisserie of liquid crème brulee drizzled in hazelnuts, golden apple turnovers, honeysuckle and matchstick aromas. It is creamy and packs a wallop of flavour in rich vanilla liqueur, melty caramels, sweet grilled pineapple and spiced vanilla lingering on the finish. A gutsy and unapologetic wine.

    Beppi Crosariol, May 2017

Fermented with natural yeast. Full, ripe, luscious style exhibiting the generous heat of the vintage. Buttery, toasty pineapple, mango and peach, as well as vanilla and caramel. And should you need more words of enticement, here’s an imaginative description from the winery’s technical sheet: “… some reductive aromas of new tennis balls and flint.” A grand slam of a chardonnay.

The wine presents in the glass with a golden hue. The aromas begin with toasty oak, vanilla and orange marmalade. (For athletes, the winery’s tasting notes reach a new high for descriptors by suggesting the aromas even include “new tennis balls.”) Those notes, minus the tennis balls, are echoed on the rich palate. Love is not a great score in tennis but it certainly applies with this Chardonnay.
