  • About this winery

In 1994, Pablo Eguzkiza and Telmo Rodríguez, along with a third oenologist, created a Garnacha from old bush vineyards in Navarra. The wine was called Alma (soul). This is how the business started, originally under the name of Compañía de Vinos de La Granja. Luis Gutierrez, August 2014

The 2010 Pago La Jara is produced with Tempranillo grapes from five plots of vineyards totaling five hectares. The grapes fermented in 3,000-kilo oak vats with indigenous yeasts and aged for 18 months in different sized and different origin oak barrels. It has a wild character, with notes of morello cherries, damsons, spices (clove, nutmeg) and well-integrated oak. The palate is medium to full-bodied with polished tannins, lively and fresh, with good acidity and balance. 4,800 bottles produced. It should live long. Drink 2015-2020.

    Josh Raynolds, December 2015

Glass-staining ruby. Expressive, smoke-accented bouquet of ripe dark berries, incense and smoky minerals, with vanilla, mocha and licorice undertones. Sweet, spicy and expansive in the mouth, offering powerful blueberry and cherry liqueur flavors energized by a peppery spice quality. Combines richness and vivacity smoothly and finishes with excellent focus and lingering sweetness, with supple tannins building slowly and adding shape.
