  • About this winery

    The long history of the Montresor family boasts illustrious ancestors, like the Count Claude de Montresor, the prime counsellor of Duke D'Orleans in France in 1600 (his writings, "Memoirs", dating back to 1663, are considered of great interest).   • Tasting notes

    Ethereal nose of peach blossoms, violet, raspberry and mint. On the palate, it is intense and refined. Full-bodied and smooth with clear notes of dried grapes. Ideal with spicy dishes, game and seasoned cheeses. Excellent with parmesan cheese. Best served at room temperature with two hours of decanting prior to drinking.

  • Viticultural notes

    The classic area of the Valpolicella (North-West of Verona) which includes the five traditional villages of Negrar, Marano, S.Pietro in Cariano and Fumane.

  • Winemaking notes

    Traditional vinification was used when creating this Amarone. The harvest was late and the grapes were left to dry until February, when they were then crushed. The must fermented in stainless steel for 4 months and the wine was aged in Slavonian oak casks and French small barrels for 3 years. It was then aged in bottle for 6 months prior to release.

    Velvety, opulent, intense.
    For Amarone lovers, this beautiful black bottle, gilded with gold, will be a delicious and appreciated gift. It is made for savoury dishes like osso bucco and game, but fares well with hearty mushroom risotto, aged pecorino or parmesan or even chocolate.

    The notes here are opulent and velvety; rich warm chocolate, smoked and preserved cherries, dried rose petals, exotic spices, wild herbs and espresso. The palate is equally weighty and intense with a slick, glycerol texture and flavours of cherries in syrup and spiced bittersweet cocoa. Lengthy and nicely hewn with balanced acidity to keep it from being too ponderous. It has a long and fresh finish.
