Product ReviewsALPHA Cabernet Sauvignon89 Points Wine Spectator“ A juicy, flattering style, with tasty braised fig, currant and blackberry fruit liberally laced with aged tobacco and dark black pepper notes. Stays nice and fleshy through the finish. Drink now through 2010. -JM ” July 2009 ALPHA Cabernet Sauvignon91 Points Robert Parker Jr., The Wine Advocate“ The 2007 Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon raises the bar considerably. A glass-coating opaque purple, it has an excellent bouquet of toasty oak, tobacco, espresso, and blackcurrant. With good richness, excellent depth, and a firm structure, it will evolve for several years and drink well through 2019. ” June 2009 ALPHA Cabernet SauvignonWine Spectator“ Lightly firm, with a muscular core of blackberry, currant and licorice snap notes laid over a loam and coffee undertow. Slightly chunky, but pushes through well enough on the finish. Drink now. ” November 2010 ALPHA Cabernet Sauvignon90 Points Wine Advocate“ The 2008 Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon is a glass-coating opaque purple color with aromas of wood smoke, pencil lead, scorched earth, violets, blackcurrant, and blackberry. Structured on the palate, but slightly clipped in the finish, another 2-3 years of bottle age could round it out but that is a gamble. Drink this Cabernet sooner rather than later. ” December 2010 2009 ALPHA Cabernet Sauvignon88 Points Gismondi OnWine
“
Big savoury, peppery, spicy, bay leaf and menthol nose with bits of black olive, cassis and smoky, coffee aromas. Ripe, round, smooth palate with some acidity showing through. Big cassis jam, blackberry, savoury, smoky, resin, black olive, dry bay, leather and beef flavours. There is fine fruit concentration a la Apalta but with some Oz style acidity in the back end. Best with grilled meats. 2009 ALPHA Cabernet Sauvignon91 Points Wine Diva/Wine Scores (Daenna Van Mulligen)

TOP 50 +11 of 2011 2009 ALPHA Cabernet Sauvignon89 Points Wine Access Buyer's Guide +“ Packed with an enticing mix of sweet red fruits, sweet baking spice, brambly mixed berries and pepper and oak notes. This wine shows how cabernet sauvignon can still be delicious without being over the top with ripe black fruit. Rhys Pender ” March 2012 2009 ALPHA Cabernet Sauvignon90 Points Natalie MacLean“ Top Pick, Dec 10, 2011 Unfairly great for the price! Luscious, full-bodied, juicy and textured. Fleshy blackberries and black plums. Perfect for first dates if you want them to go well and for anniversaries when you want to remember only the good times. Food matches: slow-cooked roast beef and root vegetables, herbed beef stew, crown rib roast with stuffing and all the trimmings. ” December 2011 2009 ALPHA Cabernet Sauvignon91 Points The Globe and Mail“ Here’s a fine red for the summer’s grilled steaks. Classic cabernet flavours of cassis, mint and tobacco work together in fine balance, and the structure’s as solid as a beef-fed weightlifter. ” July 2012 2010 ALPHA Cabernet Sauvignon91 Points Wine Advocate“ The 2010 Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with 10% Merlot and aged for 12 months in French oak. It has a lifted floral bouquet with raspberry wine gums and wild strawberry, while the palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, red currant and raspberry laced with vanilla towards the crisp finish. It is composed, harmonious and packs sufficient fruit to leave you satisfied at this price. Drink now-2017. – Neal Martin ” December 2012 |
