A cold Canadian winter, unusually wet spring, and dry summer yielded wines with excellent balance and distinct varietal flavours. Crops were lighter than normal, but the vintage will be remembered as unprecedented flood and drought conditions with a persistent haze from forest fires. Five hand-harvested lots were processed and fermented separately with 80% in stainless steel tanks and 20% in new French oak barriques. Malolactic fermentation was spontaneous in the barrel-fermented portion and the final blend was assembled during the last week of February 2018. The wine was bottle aged for 6 months.
