CHATEAU PIPEAU is a family-owned estate, three kilometres from the famous town of SAINT-EMILION, which has been in the family for three generations. Today, Richard MESTREGUILHEM is carrying on his father’s good work by keeping the estate management entirely a family affair. The estate is managed according to strict principles, with carefully-dosed sprays against disease, cluster thinning to limit yields, leaf-stripping towards harvest-time in order to optimize the ripening process and careful sorting during harvesting.

Thanks to this painstaking work, recent vintages have been endowed with exceptional qualities of fruit, together with greater aromas and tannins. Winemaking techniques combine tradition and modern expertise: 5 to 6 weeks of gentle maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, frequent pump-over and pressing of the skins in a traditional vertical press. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 14 months, depending on the vintage. The barrels are carefully selected and renewed every year. CHATEAU PIPEAU wine, which perpetuates its quality from year to year, is regularly quoted in famous wine guides and in the international Press.....From one vintage to the next, one of the strengths of CHATEAU PIPEAU is to offer consistent style and personality. It is a wine with expressive fruit, an opulent nose of red berries, roundness on the palate, with good length and a harmonious and elegant finish.

CHATEAU PIPEAU is very delightful when young but it also has all the qualities for laying-down of a really great SAINT-EMILION!
