Wine Advocate on DOMAINE DE LA MORDORÉE

Titre

"I’ve yet to see these guys put a foot wrong, and regardless of the vintage, they’re able to make superb wines. In addition to their terrific Châteauneuf du Papes, they continue to raise the quality of their Lirac and Côtes du Rhône releases. Also, while these all have the ability to drink nicely on release, they age beautifully."

October 2017

Richly concentrated and velvety in texture, the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape La Reine des Bois is a full-bodied blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 5% Syrah and 5% split between Vaccarese and Counoise. While it's not the greatest vintage of this wine, it's still terrific, marrying plummy, black cherry fruit with a dusting of baking spices and Provençal herbs, finishing long and plush.

Vinous, June 2016

Lurid ruby. Aromas of ripe dark fruits, candied licorice and pungent flowers, lent vivacity by a peppery element. Plush, sweet and open-knit, offering juicy blackberry and bitter cherry flavors that become sweeter as the wine opens up. Fine-grained tannins shape a spicy, nicely persistent finish that leaves behind a note of black pepper.
