For Pedro Parra the purest expression of his passionate devotion to terroir is Clos des Fous, his collaboration with Francois Massoc, Paco Leyton, and Albert Cussen. Although the project is based in Pedro's home region of Bio Bio, 500km south of Santiago, the focus is not limited to making wines from Bio Bio: rather the idea is to discover (or rediscover) and celebrate great unknown terroirs throughout Chile - a vast and endlessly varied country - that is full of the vibrancy, uniqueness, and...
Complex nose opens in red fruits, predominantly murtilla, cherry and raspberry. Its complexity expands floral notes predominating the native flora such as chamomile, pennyroyal and flower Boldo. Notes minerals will supplement this aromatic palette with a touch of gunpowder, earth and granite. Mouth very consistent with his nose, we find these descriptors, balancing everything with a large volume and refreshing acidity. Cozy, full and complex wine.
Cauquenina means "woman of cauquenes." This blend comes from old vines of dry land, planted on very old red granite soils of the Paleozoic era. Carignan, País, Carmenère, Malbec and Cinsault, around the city of Cauquenes and Itata Valley, inserted in an unfamiliar area, is a perfect example of our history and winemaking tradition.
Harvested by hand from selected grapes from old vines of dry lands of Cauquenes and Itata. Fermented by the traditional artisan methods.

Plenty of berry and cherry fruit character with lemon undertones. Some orange peel, too. Medium-to-full body, tight and focused. Delicious finish. Cool, old-vine wine.See detailed press review
