    Established by the Shaunessy and Oldfield families on the South Okanagan’s legendary Golden Mile Bench in 1993, Tinhorn Creek is a very special winegrowing project, comprising 150 acres of spectacular vineyards in two distinct areas, one on either side of the valley. The two vineyards have significantly different soils, exposures, and microclimates.   • Tasting notes

    A pale rose coloured wine, hinting towards peach. The nose is very pretty, showing quince, rosewater, watermelon but also spicy with ginger and anise. The palate is vibrant and fresh with a hint of pétillant (slightly effervescent) tangerine, ruby grapefruit, kiwi and sage. The most refreshing Rosé to date with a subtler fruit profile from previous vintages.

  • Viticultural notes

    This Rosé is 100% Cabernet Franc from the Diamondback Vineyard on the Black Sage Bench. It comes from the lowest elevation spot that collects cool air and is perfect forRosé as its sugar ripeness is usually delayed compared with the blocks used for reds.

  • Winemaking notes

    Grapes were machine harvested at 4 am to come in cool (~5C) and were left tosit in the harvest bins to pick up the colour. The juice was assessed after 24 hours of skin contact and the grapes were put directly into the press. A long and slow gentle press program was used to slowly remove the juice, where it continued to pick up colour throughout. The wine was then gently racked and fermented in stainless steel with selected yeast strains.

    This is made with Cabernet Franc. The wine, also bottled in December 2018, has a salmon pink hue and aromas and flavours of spice and orange.
