Tilia is the Latin name for the Linden tree found throughout Mendoza. In Argentina’s wine country, the tree’s leaves are commonly used by vineyard workers to brew a popular, calming tea. Ripe dark fruit aromas with hints of violet and anise give way to a juicy wine with black raspberry and black plum flavors along with notes of black pepper. The finish is soft with velvety tannins.
Tilia wines are made at Bodegas Esmeralda, a Catena family winery in the Eastern region of Mendoza. These sustainably farmed wines are made by renowned Catena winemaker, Leopoldo Kuschnaroff. The Bonarda possesses true varietal character and flavour complexity at a strong value price.
Fermented at max temp. 25-28°C for 10 days with 15 days of maceration in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged for 6 months in French oak.
