Bright ruby-red. Inviting nose melds blackberry, cassis, licorice, chocolate, fresh herbs and tobacco leaf. Quite full in the mouth, showing lovely creamy depth, but framed by slightly edgy acidity. This concentrated wine offers impressive stuffing for its price but needs time to knit. Finishes with building, tongue-clenching tannins, excellent length and a late hint of nutty oak. Plenty of old-vines flavor intensity here. Serious juice--and 6,500 cases were made.
