Laura Brunelli's new Brunellos are superb. Brunelli benefits from having vineyards in both the southern and northern appellations of the region, which gives her an added degree of flexibility in crafting her blends, which is especially an advantage in challenging years. All of the Brunellos are made along classic lines and are aged in cask. Brunelli remains one of the undiscovered jewels in Montalcino.

May 2018

Alluring aromas of wild berry, crushed blue flower, dried herb and exotic spice lead the way. The elegant linear palate doles out juicy black cherry, raspberry preserve, licorice and a hint of tobacco. It's well balanced, with taut fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. Give this time to fully develop.

Decanter, February 2018

The backbone of this Riserva comes from Gianni Brunelli's south-facing Vigna Olmo vineyard, located on the estate's Podernovone property in the southeast of Montalcino. It is their warmest site, and gives wine with plenty of structure. While not effusive at the moment, the nose hints at violets, rose and orange peel, while the palate takes a deeper tone showing iron, dark earth and black cherry. It's voluptuously textured with powerful, finessed tannins and lingering notes of stone and sweet herbs.

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2012

Gianni Brunelli was from an old Montalcino family. He dedicated his life to upholding the local traditions of great food, wine and hospitality. In 1988 he re-established his family's grape growing tradition at Le Chiuse de Sotto, a 2 ha vineyard below the hill town of Montalcino.
